The raising of our pups is a family affair, and all members of our family are involved - both human and canine. The raising of our puppies is not a money making venture for us, it is a passion and a hobby. We take great pride in the temperaments and looks of our pups and the feedback we receive from our owners, justifies our belief that our breeding and socialisation program is well on track.
- We breed infrequently (averaging 1 litter every 2 years) and a great deal of time and planning goes into producing and raising our puppies.
- Our breeding goal is to produce versatile shorthairs of high quality conformation with excellent temperaments, who fit the breed standard in all aspects and are suitable for the family or the field
- All puppies are registered with the ACT Canine Association, vaccinated, wormed, heart wormed, micro-chipped, dew claws removed, vet checked and come with a lifetime of support and advice and 6 weeks free Health Insurance. (Please note: Due to current legislation, our puppies no longer have their tails docked).
- Companion puppies are sold on Limited Registration, meaning they cannot be shown nor bred from.
- Show Quality puppies are available only occassionally and per a written agreement.
- Most importantly, our puppies are raised in a loving family environment, where they receive the best care and attention.
- They are born and raised in the house and move outside, weather permitting, from around 4-5 weeks of age, but spend their nights indoors. We undertake an extensive socialisation program with our puppies which includes socialisation with a range of people of all ages; introduction to different adult dogs; introduction to water and to swimming; introduction to a variety of household items and noises such as washing machines, dryers, vacuum cleaners, lawnmowers, cars, television, radio and they are introduced to car travel.
- Pups are handled frequently and on a daily basis, from the day they are born. Once they start to be weaned, we commence basic obedience training with them which not only includes 'stacking' of the pups but also includes teaching them to sit, to drop, to come and in some cases, to wait/stay, we also begin house training.
- References from current FOURJAYS GSP owners are always available.
Please be aware that it is very important to us that our puppies are placed into appropriate homes, and all prospective puppy owners will be asked to fill out a questionnaire. This is simply a tool to help us to get to know you better, your answers will be of great value to us when selecting the puppy/dog that is right for you and your family.
Our expectations of you as a Fourjays puppy owner:
You will provide quality food, shelter, water & veterinary care;
